I am not engaged in the legal sense, but in the spiritual sense. Many will argue that the Church is not the bride of Christ. Others will say that the Church is the Bride of Christ. Since I am still learning about this and researching this topic, I will not get into the historical side of this topic. I will however say that my engagement is more of a relationship.
I recently heard my pastor say that we should be dating Christ. This means we are spending time with Christ. Getting to know Him through prayer, studying, communicating, praise and worship. God already knows our thoughts before we think them and our speech before we speak it. That does not mean we do not have to communicate with Him on a consistent basis.
Think about it. When you are in a relationship, you talk to your partner about your hopes, dreams, doubts and fears. That person can only help you to a certain extent. God however, can help you beyond man's imagination. God will love you more than life. Just look what He did at Calvary. So yes. I can be engaged to God and married to my husband at the same time. I spend time with both and both mean the world to me. But only one can save my soul.
Lesson of the day: Look at who you are dating and married to. Which one do you value more?
